Wax Ribbons: Suitable for matt and semi gloss paper labels.
Wax/Resin Ribbons: Smudge resistant. Suitable for semi gloss paper labels.
Resin Ribbons: Scratch and chemical resistant. Suitable for synthetic labels.

Please Note: It is not advisable to use Red Ribbons for printing barcodes as most barcode readers emit a red beam of light. As barcodes scan on reflection of light having a red barcode scanned by a red beam of light means the barcode won't scan!
